- Safety Initiatives for Our Employees
We are dedicated to providing a safe environment for our employees by learning from experience and maintaining a sharp eye for risk management. Owing to our workplace safety policy and corporate culture that encourages active communication, Harima’s sites in Japan have very low rates of lost-time incidents.
Regular assessment of potential hazards can help reduce risk of accidents and injuries. We practice hazard identification exercises on a regular basis, and also have professionals come in to conduct safety training for fire and explosion prevention.
Seeing is believing, and that is even more so the case with risk management. Our production hub in Japan, Kakogawa Plant, has a safety training facility to observe high-risk simulations such as chemical and electrostatic explosions. This training program is offered to all employees for familiarization purposes.

Plasmine Technology, Inc.
Plasmine has developed an original mobile application for employees to swiftly report any hazards or close calls they encounter at work. The app shares information throughout the company in a timely manner, for fast response and training purposes. Reports are stored in a database for further analysis and application, and help prevent accidents and enhance operation safety. With a clearer vision of the workplace, we can further introduce preventive measures to create a safer environment.
Safety App
Creating a safe workplace includes preparation for natural disasters. Here at Harima, we make sure sites can take appropriate action in case of an emergency.
Thorough safety measures to cope with natural disasters are crucial especially for countries like Japan with frequent and at times devastating earthquakes. Drawing on lessons from the past, all our Japanese sites are equipped with emergency kits and supplies customized for the needs of each location. We have also implemented a secure communication line for coordination among sites, as well as a system for individual employees to quickly report safety status using their mobile phones.
For quick response to crises, we regularly go over emergency action plans, evacuation routes and first aid basics. We also cooperate with local authorities to conduct tailor-made programs to fit each site.
